I'm Natalie, a Registered Dietitian hailing from the charming town of Amherstburg, Ontario. In this blog, I aim to share my personal journey as an introverted small-town girl who unexpectedly found herself in the world of pharmaceutical sales, merging my passion for nutrition with the challenges of a new profession. The Roots of My Journey
Born and raised in the idyllic landscapes of Amherstburg, Ontario Canada, I was nurtured by the tight-knit community and the values instilled by my upbringing. Nature, simplicity, and genuine connections were the foundations upon which I built my character. As a naturally quiet and introverted individual, I gravitated towards a path aligned with my deep-rooted passions for health and nutrition.
Upon completing my undergraduate degree in Applied Human Nutrition at the esteemed University of Guelph, I felt an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Motivated by this fervor, I pursued a Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Western Ontario, solidifying my expertise and honing my skills in the field of nutrition.
Embracing the Unexpected
Life, however, has a way of taking us down unexpected paths. While I envisioned a future where I would work one-on-one with clients, helping them transform their lives through proper nutrition, fate had other plans. Fresh out of my internship, I found myself immersed in the pharmaceutical sales industry, a profession that couldn't be further from my introverted nature and the tranquil world I was accustomed to.
Navigating the Unknown
The transition from a quiet, shy county girl to a sales professional was a challenging journey, both personally and professionally. The extroverted nature of the sales industry presented me with numerous obstacles. The art of networking, persuasive communication, and building relationships required me to step out of my comfort zone and stretch my limits. It was a period of self-discovery and personal growth that pushed me to embrace the power within me.
Finding Harmony
As I embarked on this unfamiliar path, I quickly realized that my background in nutrition provided a unique advantage. While I initially struggled to reconcile my passion for health and wellness with the demands of sales, I gradually discovered the intrinsic connection between the two. Sales, when approached with authenticity and a genuine desire to help others, could be viewed as an act of service—a means to guide healthcare professionals towards valuable solutions that improve patient outcomes.
